Slow jewellery: the movement changing how we buy and wear jewellery

The problem with fast jewellery

Fast fashion has reached jewellery too. Major clothing chains sell necklaces for 3 euros, earrings for 1.50 and rings that last a season. The result: mountains of costume jewellery ending up in landfill.

What is slow jewellery?

The slow jewelry movement proposes buying fewer pieces, but of higher quality, with greater meaning and greater traceability. Know the origin, buy less, choose durable materials and value the process.

The connection with artisan jewellery

When you create your own jewel in a workshop, you are doing exactly what this movement proposes: you know the origin of the materials, you know who made it, and the piece has personal meaning that no mass-produced piece can have.

Is it more expensive?

In the short term, yes. But if you calculate cost per use, the equation changes completely: a silver piece you wear for 10 years has a ridiculously low daily cost.
